about

This richly orchestrated piece is based on the song "Kol Berama" by Abie Rotenberg.
A voice is heard on high--Rachel, weeping for her children.

The dichotomy between the serenity of the heavenly setting, and the stormy feelings of motherly grief and anger, is explored throughout this piece, until a beautiful resolution is achieved.

The lyrics of the original song were taken from Jeremiah 31:14--
Thus says the Lord: A voice is heard on high, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are gone.
